Where the work is
Novelda’s industrial ground, and what is on it
Natural stone is the town’s biggest industry. The marble cluster counted more than 40 % of Spain’s natural-stone processing firms in Novelda in 2024.
El Fondonet
About 400,000 m² a few metres from the A-31 Madrid–Alicante motorway. The locks are the ones every estate has: sliding yard gates, personnel doors set into roller shutters, office doors.
Santa Fe and Avenida Jesús Navarro
Santa Fe, developed under its own plan, and the older industrial strip off Avenida Jesús Navarro, where the town has been carrying out improvement works.
The Puerto del Sol business park at Salinetes has been approved but is not built yet. When it is, its units will be covered like the rest.
Two jobs

Opening
- A personnel door or office door whose lock has jammed.
- The padlock or built-in lock of a roller shutter or a yard gate.
- A shop door when the keys are lost or the person who had them has gone.
Changing
- Cylinders on every door of a unit, keyed alike or each to its own key.
- Shutter and gate locks that have stiffened or broken.
- All the locks after a change of tenant, partner or staff.
No welding, metalwork, gate or shutter fabrication and no shutter motors: for those, a metalworker or a shutter firm. The work here is the lock.
Stone yards
Dust, and why yard locks give up early
Cutting and polishing stone fills the air with very fine dust, and it settles in keyways, on the pins inside a cylinder and in the guides of shutter locks. Spray oil on top of it makes a paste that sets the lock solid. If a yard lock has become stiff, it is better to have it cleaned or changed than to keep oiling it; a short note on stone dust in locks explains what to use instead.
When a works stops for a while, the locks matter more, not less. There is a note on locking up a yard that stands idle, and if a unit has already been broken into, repairing a forced door comes first.
Shops and offices
Counters and offices in the centre
Shops and offices round the Plaza de España and the centre, often with a street door, a roller shutter in front and a back door onto a yard or a passage. When a member of staff leaves with a key, the cylinders change the same week. Visits for planned work can be booked before opening or after closing.

Questions
From owners and managers
Can you weld or repair a damaged roller shutter or a yard gate?
No. Welding, metalwork and shutter motors are outside the job, and a metalworker is the right call. What is done is the lock on the shutter or gate: opening it when it will not give, and changing it.
Our unit has a dozen doors. Can they all be changed in one visit?
Usually, if the cylinders are measured and ordered beforehand. Send photos of each door’s lock and edge, or arrange a short visit to measure. Cylinders can be supplied keyed alike, so one key opens all of them, or each to its own key.
Who has to authorise opening a unit or a shop?
The business itself: the owner, a manager with the papers, or the tenant named on the lease of the premises. If the person on site is an employee, a call from the owner or manager settles it.
Can the work be done outside opening hours so the shop is not shut?
Lock changes on business premises can often be booked early in the morning, at lunchtime or after closing. Opening a shop or unit that will not open is attended whenever it happens.
