## A van, a phone and the whole valley

Locksmith Novelda has no shop to visit. The work is done where the door is: in a flat in the centre, at a house out in a partida, in a unit on El Fondonet, beside a car at the side of the road. The van carries the tools and the cylinders most often needed, and anything unusual is ordered and fitted on a second visit.

The phone is answered at any hour, every day, in English or in Spanish. Those are the only two languages offered; if one of them is easier for you than the other, use it.

## The five rules, whoever is calling

- **No arrival time is promised.** You hear an honest estimate of the drive for your address and the hour, nothing more.
- **The price is agreed on the spot,** once the door or lock has been seen and before anything is done to it.
- **The gentlest way in comes first.** Latch, then cylinder; drilling only with your agreement.
- **Proof before opening.** Every door, car and safe, whoever asks.
- **A written note after a break-in,** describing what was found and what was done, for the insurer.

## Jobs that are never taken on

Locksmiths are often asked for things this business does not do. To save you a call, none of the following is offered, to anyone:

- No key cutting or key copying, for any lock whatsoever
- No spare keys of any kind: not for a flat, a house, a gate, a unit, a garage or a mailbox
- No car keys at all: none cut, supplied, replaced or programmed
- No transponder chips and no remote fobs for any vehicle
- No ignition switches or ignition barrels, repaired or replaced
- No keys for motorbikes, scooters or vans
